Dresses - new or gently worn prom, bridesmaid and other fancy dresses. Girls appreciate fancy dresses that are current trends, classic style, long or short. It is not necessary that you wash or dry clean the dress, but if it is terribly stained, we will not be able to use it. If the zipper is broken, we will not be able to use it. If lace, buttons, snaps or hooks need minor repair, we have volunteers who can do that.

Shoes – the higher the heel the better! Sparkly is good, but some girls want something more elegant.

Purses – fancy purses, small as girls only carry their phone, some money and their ID. No shoulder bags or casual bags, we do not need them.

Jewelry – bling. Earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Girls love costume sparkly jewelry.

Strapless bras – they are expensive and often our girls cannot afford them but need one with their selected prom dress.

Petticoats, body shapers, etc – sure, we’ll take them.

Dresses received by Blessed Dress KC which are not selected for the Annual FREE Prom Boutique are given to other Prom Closets, Re-entry after Prison ministry, the Women’s Employment Network, or Paseo Academy of Fine & Performing Arts. Paseo students use dresses for dance classes and theater costumes, as well as their sewing and construction courses.

It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.

Want to host a collection event? A Blessed Dress representative will work with you every step of the way to help make your event a success. Stores and Salons might offer a discount for donated items. Or individuals gather friends and focus the collection on dresses, shoes, jewelry or all of it. Some individuals have had jewelry-making parties and donate the created pieces.
